Research & Development

The aim of our research is to continually improve our product range and give our customers access to plastics that are cheaper, more reliable and better suited to specific applications.

Most of our product development is carried out in cooperation with our customers – whether converters or specifiers – and is focused on improved products and/or new applications that will allow our customers to gain a competitive edge in their markets.

As for process research, our aim is to come up with truly innovative solutions. One example here is metallocene catalysis, which today allows us to manufacture plastics with very high-level performance. The new Lumicene® product range is the fruit of this innovation.

Looking to the future

Two fundamental research projects are currently under way at the Feluy Research Center.

The first is exploring production of polypropylene and polyethylene from methanol, a raw material that can be made from natural gas, coal or biomass.

The second project involves manufacture of bioplastics from plant based raw materials, using polymers derived from lactic acid.
